Job Jam: ten days of learning how to get hired

Our group spent ten days in the Czech mountains writing CVs, facing mock interviews and sending real job applications.

In May, nine young people from our region and their group leader packed their bags for the Orlické hory mountains in Czechia. From 11 to 21 May 2026 they took part in Job Jam, a youth exchange hosted by our partner Youth Group Novae, together with young people from Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary. Forty participants in all, aged 18 to 25.

The topic is something almost everyone worries about sooner or later: finding a job. Instead of talking about it, the group practised it.

What they did

  • Wrote a real CV and got honest feedback on it from the group
  • Built a LinkedIn profile from scratch
  • Went through mock job interviews with HR professionals
  • Spent a day in Prague asking locals about their jobs
  • Looked for real open positions and applied
  • Made a digital leaflet with tips for other young job seekers

What they brought home

Everyone came back with a finished CV, a LinkedIn profile, applications already sent, and a Youthpass certificate describing what they learned. According to Youth Group Novae, some participants have since found work. They describe Job Jam as a chance to try, fail safely and try again, which is exactly how non-formal learning works.

It was our second time sending a group abroad as a partner organisation, after Speak UP! in Slovakia in May 2025. Thank you to Youth Group Novae for hosting us, and to Trailblazers and Kalandoor for ten great days together.

Our next exchange abroad is The Financial Blueprint in Mezőberény, Hungary, in March 2027: nine days about budgets, banking and the digital economy. The call for participants opens in December.
